CAP Viewer – Filters and search functionalities

Posted December 1, 2009 by iessolutions
Categories: New functionalities

We have implemented a series of filters and search options so that the CAP Viewer is able to display messages matching specific criteria.

With the “PSAP” filter the user can display messages belonging to certain PSAPs. In particular, he can use the appropriate drop down list to select one of the PSAP in the list or all of them, or use the multiple selection function in order to choose more than one PSAP.

Messages can be filtered according to the state of the incident. The drop down list allows to select one state or to use the multiple selection function in order to be able to display messages with different states.

It is also possible filter messages by date, simply selecting a specific date from the calendar.

Search functionalities allow the user to type in the message subject or address in order to show only messages matching the search result. View following pictures:

The “Advanced Search” allow to perform searches based on:

  • CAP number
  • Incident number
  • Headline

Categories: New functionalities

In this post we will talk about the visualization functionality of CAP Viewer.
The main screen of the application is shown in the following picture:

CAP Viewer is able to display on a geographical interface (based on Google Maps) the jixels created with the CAP Generator. The display on the map changes depending on the zoom level set, which can be changed by double clicking on the map or through the zoom control. On large scale the jixels are clustered and displayed through icons showing the number of jixels in that area (view the following image):

On small‐scale (from zoom level 12 up) the jixels are represented differently depending on the type and status of the jixel, as specified in the legend viewable by clicking the appropriate link (view following image):

If the zoom level is high enough (from 12 up), the left side of the page shows the list of jixels that are displayed on the map; moreover, clicking on a particular jixel in the list, the related detail card is shown.

CAP Generator – Modification of a jixel

Posted November 23, 2009 by iessolutions
Categories: New functionalities

In this post you will be explained how to proceed with the different phases for the modification of a jixel:

  • Modification of a call
  • Transformation in intervention
  • Modification of an intervention
  • Closure of a call or intervention
  • At the creation phase each jixel is identified as “call”, that is an event for which information have been
received (consequently to the caller notification) but not yet managed (no resources, structures, etc.), so not yet transformed in intervention.

In order to modify a call previously generated you need to access the incidents section (or resources or structures section) in the main menu and select the call to modify.

After that you go to a page where you can edit the previously entered data about the call. In this case you have to select the command “Modify call”.

Finally, once you have filled in all necessary fields, you have to press the Update button in order to store the CAP message and access the next screen where you can press the “Confirm” button to confirm the sending of the message and, therefore, to make the Jixel available in the Cap Viewer. From here you can also download the updated message in the CAP format (xml), just clicking on “Download”.

To convert a call in intervention you need to open the call and change the request type into “Change/Transformation in incident”. Finally press the “Update” and “Confirm” buttons to make the Jixel available in the CAP Viewer.

In order to modify an intervention you need to access the appropriate section in the main menu (incidents, resources or structures) and select the intervention. After that you go to a page where you can edit the previously entered data about the intervention. In this case you have to select the command “Modify incident”.

Finally, once you have filled in all necessary fields, you have to press the Update button in order to store the CAP message and access the next screen where you can press the “Confirm” button to confirm the sending of the message and, therefore, to make the jixel available in the Cap Viewer.

If you want to close a call or an intervention just access the appropriate section in the main menu, select the call (or intervention) to close, choose Close Call (or incident) as request type, and click on “Update”. Finally press the “Confirm” button in the next page to delete the jixel also from the CAP Viewer.

Categories: New functionalities

We are going to tell you about the jixel functionalities. Today we explain how to create a new jixel. Take into account that we are referring to the particular case of the demo version.

CAP Generator shows a page where you can insert data about the incident. You are also provided with a map
useful to display or select the location of the incident.

In such a case the user has to:

  • Select the jixel typology (incidents, resources or structures) from the drop down list
  • Select the type (typology detail) between the ones available in the drop down list
  • Select urgency, severity and certainty for the jixel
  • Insert information about the caller name and his/her phone number
  • Insert the location (Figure 8). This can be done in different ways:
    1. Keeping the geocoding option enabled, select the point from the map and, automatically, the text boxes on the left will be filled with the address and coordinates (latitude and longitude)
    2. Keeping the geocoding option disabled, select the point from the map and, automatically, the text boxes on the left will be filled with the coordinates (latitude and longitude)
    3. Keeping the geocoding option enabled, enter the address in the related text box. After that you need to click anywhere on the screen so that geocoding takes place and you can see the map showing the location corresponding to the address.
    4. Keeping the geocoding option disabled, insert manually the coordinates corresponding to the incident location.
  • Insert the headline and the jixel description
  • Select the PSAP that is responsible for the management of the jixel

Finally, once you have filled in all necessary fields, you have to press the Send button in order to store the CAP message and access the next screen where you can press the “Confirm” button to confirm the sending of the message and, therefore, to
make the Jixel available in the Cap Viewer.
You can also download the message in the CAP format (xml), just clicking on “Download”.
